Khammam: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy here on Saturday demanded that the State government shift the agriculture market yard to Gurralapadu.

Addressing a meeting, he said the existing market yard located in the III Town area is congested and not convenient for the farmers to sell their produce. “The location near Gurralapadu village under Khammam Rural mandal is ideal for relocating the existing market yard that is unable to accommodate the ever increasing arrivals of agricultural produces,” Reddy said.

It is clear that majority of stakeholders are preferring Gurralapadu as it is very near to the city, he said, demanding that the government go with the opinion of the most. Reddy assured that he will meet the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and other Ministers to convince them to about the shift of the market yard to Gurralapadu.

Stating that plenty of government land is available near Gurralapadu, District Congress Committee (DCC) president Aitham Satyam said it is ideally located for the local farmers and as well as for those coming from across other districts like Warangal, Mahabubabad and Krishna.

Telangana Legislature Party Deputy Leader Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, former Union Minister Balaram Naik, Farmers wing State convener D Daniel, senior leaders V Narsi Reddy, Vaddeboina Narsimha Rao, Deepak Chowdary, Tilak, Parchuri Murali and Jagan Lal were among others present.
