Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu conducted the weekly review on Polavaram and other irrigation projects on Monday. Officials informed him that the progress was slow due to heavy rains that lashed the region last week.

An official from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) gave a detailed forecast on rainfall, soil moisture and weather conditions in the different regions of the state. The Chief Minister told all the officials that the coming dry spells must be used to advantage and speed up works.

Irrigation projects from other districts were also reviewed in the video conference, and the chief engineers of all districts submitted their brief progress reports to the Chief Minister. On August 15, water will be released through at least 4 pumps at the Purushottapatnam project, and would be directed to Yeleru reservoir.

The Chief Minister has scheduled a visit to the projects at Polavaram and Purushottapatnam on the third Monday of this month.
