This was the observation made by a Supreme Court bench headed by Justice V Gopala Gowda and Justice Arun Mishra on April 20, 2016 as it reproached the states and Union Territories for failing to submit the action taken reports on the removal of religious encroachments of the public roads.

This was the observation made by a Supreme Court bench headed by Justice V Gopala Gowda and Justice Arun Mishra on April 20, 2016 as it reproached the states and Union Territories for failing to submit the action taken reports on the removal of religious encroachments of the public roads.

The apex court in its order also observed that erecting religious structures by way of unauthorised constructions on public places and roads is an ‘insult to the God’.

The court further said the orders were not meant to be kept in the freezer and gave all states a week’s time to file affidavits detailing the steps taken to curb the construction of these unauthorised structures.

But even after more than a year, the orders have not been implemented. This religious structure in the middle of Amberpet road is a glaring example of the non-implementation of the Supreme Court order.
