Hyderabad: The contract workers working at Buddha Purnima Project (BPP) cry foul over the irregularities in depositing Provident Fund (PF) amounts into their accounts by the contractors. Workers alleged that PF amounts were not paid to them for the past four years. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has been in hand in glove with the contractors, the workers allege.

Vinay Kumar, a contract worker, said that neither HMDA nor the private agencies which hired the workers as security guards and housekeeping workers to work at BPP office paid PF amounts. He has said there are several irregularities in the payment of the PF amounts.

The HMDA and Renuka Shakti contractor have swindled the amounts for six months. "We have even downloaded the salary statements in which they have clearly included the PF amounts in our salaries. But they have not been paying to us," he said.

S Shoba, security guard working at BPP said, ``From three years we have been working at BPP under Renuka Shakti contractor. We do not know if the PF has been paid for even for one month. We also do not know if the PF amounts are deducted based on the salaries. We have already given representations to the HMDA officials, but they did not solve the problem.”

Echoing her concern another worker CH Rojamma said that the HMDA has been paying salaries on time, but no one has proper information about the PF amounts. She said that the workers have visited the PF office and labour office. But the issue was not solved. She said that the contract period with Renuka Shakti has been completed, but no worker has any information about the PF amount deducted from his or her salary.
