RR dist PR, Mining Depts told to share seigniorage with new districts
The High Court at Hyderabad has directed the Telangana Mines and Panchayati Raj Departments to release 25 per cent of seigniorage collected from mining operations in erstwhile Ranga Reddy district to Vikarabad, Ranga Reddy and Medchal districts within two months.
Hyderabad: The High Court at Hyderabad has directed the Telangana Mines and Panchayati Raj Departments to release 25 per cent of seigniorage collected from mining operations in erstwhile Ranga Reddy district to Vikarabad, Ranga Reddy and Medchal districts within two months.
Justice B Sivashankar Rao passed an order to this effect on Wednesday while hearing a petition moved by Chevella ZPTC member Ch Sailaja and another seeking direction to the departments to release the entitled seigniorage.
The petitioners were aggrieved by the non-release of the seigniorage collected from different levels of mining carried out in the erstwhile Ranga Reddy district during the period 2006 to August 2016 to the newly- formed three districts, i.e., Ranga Reddy, Vikarabad and Medchal, proportionately as per the G.O.MS.No.255.
The Government Pleader for Panchayati Raj Department contended that the petitioner had no locus to seek this relief and if at all it could only have been the Chief Executive Officer of the district who could file such a petition. The judge disagreed with this contention and passed the order directing release of 25 per cent of seigniorage collected between 2006 and 2016 to the three districts which were part of erstwhile Ranga Reddy district within two weks and adjourned the matter.
Judges’ absence to be treated as leave The High Court at Hyderabad has passed administrative orders considering the period of suspension of judicial officers for participating in the protests on the issue of allocation of judicial officers between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as a leave period.
Fourth Additional MSJ, Nampally, Additional Chief Judge of City Civil Court R Tirupathi, 12th Additional Chief Judge K Chandrashekar Prasad, 5th Additional District Judge Dr S Srinivas Reddy, Ranga Reddy District 14th ADJ V. Varaprasad, AP Judicial Academy Deputy Director D Ramakanth, and others judges who were suspended petitioned the High Court to treat the suspension period as leave. The Court granted their request, providing huge relief as it would not amount to a blot on their career prospects.
