HYDERABAD: Soon it won't be khaki clad policemen but robots that will be manning one of the busiest crossroads in the city - the Jubilee Hills Check Post if Hyderabad-based startup H-Bots Robotics Pvt Ltd succeeds in its designs.

H-Bots Robotics founder and chief executive officer Kisshhan PSV said the prototype of the robot cop is expected to be ready by September this year, following which the startup will test it for two months before deploying it at Jubilee Hills Check post on December 31The startup will finalize these details with the police department in the coming days, he said on the sidelines of the inauguration of 'Makers Leeway', a high-end robotics lab that the startup has set up in the city.

Giving details about the robot, he said, "Ours will be the world's second humanoid robot. The first one has been deployed in Dubai and this was made in France. Unlike the Police Robot in Dubai, which moves only on wheels, our robot will be able to walk, recognize people, take complaints and diffuse bombs too."

The startup is building capacity to produce 10 such police robots which can be deployed in hotels, hospitals and offices.
"We will be able to produce 10 such Robots in a year and our plan is to make them available at a price of Rs 3 lakh each," he added.
