Hyderabad: Alleging that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government had been cheating the people on the much-trumpeted two-bedroom houses scheme, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) spokesperson Satish Madiga here on Wednesday demanded that the State government fulfil its promise by constructing houses in the government lands available in Miyapur, Kukatpally, Ghamsiaguda and other places immediately.

Speaking to mediapersons at NTR Bhavan here, Satish Madiga took objection to MA&UD Minister K T Rama Rao seeking 45 acres of Railway lands for double-bedroom houses when the government lands were available in the State.

Stating that instead of building 2BHK houses in government lands, the Minister was seeking Railway lands as a ploy to hoodwink the homeless poor once again. Pointing out that the TRS government bagged 99 seats in the GHMC elections on the promise of providing 2BHK houses to slum-dwellers and other homeless people, the TDP leader charged the government with trying to hand over the prime government lands to big businessmen on a platter for obvious reasons.

The TDP leader also warned that if the government failed to build houses for the poor in the government lands, they would be constrained to call the poor to erect huts in Miyapur lands.
