Hyderabad: Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy alleged that instead of becoming Bangaru Telangana, the State had become a hub for land mafia, adulteration, sand mafia and a centre for drugs peddling.

Speaking to the presspersons at the Assembly Media Point here on Wednesday, Sudhakar Reddy bemoaned that over 1,000 students were addicted to drugs in the capital city. He demanded that the State government take the issue seriously and curb the menace.

Sudhakar Reddy alleged that students of 14 colleges and 19 schools were under the influence of drugs. Expressing shock over the international links of drug mafia, he said it was time for the Chief Minister to handle the drug mafia with an iron hand.

He suggested to the State government to take help of Interpol and NSA to curb the drug mafia in the State, considering the gravity of the problem. He also said that the situation in the State was alarming as international drug mafia was freely operating in Hyderabad and supplying drugs like LSD and MDM brands to all including even innocent schoolchildren.

Demanding that the State government monitor health conditions in the Agency areas by appointing task force committee, the senior Congress leader asked the government to appoint DMHO to Bhadradri-Kothagudem district.

Faulting the State government for allocating Rs 6 crore instead of Rs 200 crore as directed by the Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Rajani bench of High Court for renovation of Osmania General Hospital, Sudhakar Reddy demanded that the government immediately release allotted funds to Osmania General Hospital for repairs.
