The police on an experimental basis have started the surveillance of the district headquarters by deploying two drone cameras, thus marking a new beginning in the maintenance of law and order.

The administration acquired UAVs from China-based drone maker DJI that have a battery backup sufficient for the drone to fly for about 30 minutes. These drones cover a range of 4-kilometre radius from the control point.

The Bhupalpally town is just spread across a radius of 2.5 kilometres, so the specification of the drone cameras, each costing around Rs 1.30 lakh, is said to be good enough. The administration got three personnel trained to operate the drones.
