Oppose outsourcing of RTC Guest House, BBU alleged

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has been handing over its units one after another and the latest to join the list are the Guest House and the Bus Body Unit.

The RTC Unions have alleged that the Corporation is moving ahead with the idea of privatising the existing units of RTC in the name of outsourcing. After the printing press, Corporation is now contemplating to give its Guest House and the Bus Body Unit to an outsourcing agency.

According to sources, the management has decided to call tenders for giving the Guest House at Hyderguda in the city on lease to a private agency. Sources also said that the management had repatriated the staff working in the Guest House. Recently, out of the three workers, one was transferred to Bus Bhavan and two others have been asked to report to their parent organisation, said the sources.

The officials are in the process of preparing a report to state that the Bus Body (BBU) unit has not been functioning properly and has been making less units compared to the other private Bus Body builders.

It may be mentioned here that the RTC chairman S Satyanarayana had visited the Bus Body Unit and expressed displeasure over productivity and asked the workers to pull up their socks. The staff at BBU alleged that the officials were planning to give adverse report so that the unit gets closed.

Sources said that similar attempts were being made to close down the RTC units one after the other. The corporation recently planned to close down the printing press since the conductors are using ticket issuing machines (TIMs), said a Union leader.

The workers unions had suggested the corporation on taking other works like printing the stationery, printing the a magazine of the corporation and other printing works. The Union leaders alleged that the Corporation had recently closed down the tyre rethreading unit in Warangal and outsourced the supply of medicines in Tarnaka hospital.
