Hyderabad: As part of the ongoing drive against criminals to ensure safety and security of the citizens and to safeguard their jewellery in Rachakonda Police Commissionerate limits, Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat ordered detention of a 33-year-old Nepali Tek Bahadur alias Rakesh, who committed seven house burglaries under Neredmet police limits.

The police said the people under Neredmet police limits were afraid of going out locking their houses even to fetch essential commodities and also to attend jobs and functions. His repeated burglaries made people panicky. Accordingly, the Neredmet police arrested the accused on earlier and recovered 24 gram of gold jewellery, four kg silver ornaments, a Lenovo laptop, a mobile phone, an i-Phone and JVC camera all worth Rs 1,75,000.

The accused migrated to Hyderabad from Nepal to eke out a livelihood, rented a room in Neredmet and started working as a Gurkha. Later, he called his accomplices from his hometown in Nepal and started commiting house burglaries.

He used to select locked houses during night hours in the guise of gurkha and committed thefts along with his associates. He then sent the stolen property through his accomplice to his hometown soon after committing the crime.
