Hyderabad: Telangana State government is all set to take up a publicity blitzkrieg about its development and welfare programmes, nearly two years ahead of the elections. Apart from traditional advertisements through print and electronic media, the government has come up with a new concept to screen short films in cinema theatres and multiplexes to publicise the flagship programmes among people.

A top official of the state government told The Hans India that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has devised a new campaign strategy to explain the achievements of his government to the people through cinema halls in major panchayats, municipalities and multiplexes in municipal corporations.

Apart from screening short films, the government also proposes to install electronic kiosks which would display government programmes in theatre premises and will also install one-way interactive response system to elicit people’s opinion in every town. Snippets, jingles, short films on developmental schemes would be produced in the audio and video formats and they will be screened in the theatres and on social media platforms.

Officials said KCR considered cinema theatres and multiplexes as best medium to carry the message since people visit these places in big numbers during weekends.

“The reaction from people after watching the short film will help the government to understand people’s pulse from time to time,” he reportedly told the officials.

To begin with, the focus of short films would be on various issues, including irrigation projects. The measures the government was making to improve the standards of education in government schools and facilities it was providing, upgradation of medical infrastructure, minority welfare, SC, ST and BC welfare, double bedroom housing scheme, sheep distribution programme, farmers welfare, maintenance of law and order.

Sources said the government has already constituted creative teams involving film directors, poets, noted script writers and lyricists to produce jingles, snippets, short films. Noted personalities Goreti Venkanna, Chandra Bose, Ananta Sreeram, Suddala Ashok Teja, Jayaraj, Shankar and Sahitya Academy Chairman Nandini Siddha Reddy were busy conceiving ideas to produce short films.

Besides, KCR has created another creative team to take up campaign on social media particularly Facebook targeting the youth to explain the aims and objectives of TRS before the elections. The government would explain to the youth about KCR’s 13-year struggle for Telangana statehood and the CM’s vision to transform the new state into “Golden Telangana” in the next ten years.
