GHMC forms special teams to check food adulteration

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has formed special teams to curb the illegal manufacturing units involved in adulteration of food product. The teams will conduct inspection of various food related establishment in GHMC limits with the support of Police Personnel.

The GHMC said it was ensuring strict implementation of the Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 & Rules, 2011 and also the Provisions of Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Act, 1955 in the limits of GHMC. From March 3-June 30, the GHMC has inspected 373 hotels and imposed a penalty of Rs. 16.77 lakh on 208 hotels in the city.
