Hyderabad: Minister for Irrigation T Harish Rao on Saturday said that Sriramsagar flood flow canal works would be completed speedily. The government has allocated Rs 600 for the project. The project would get Kaleshwaram waters.

Earlier, Harish Rao laid foundation for Rollavagu project to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 60 crore to irrigate 14,693 acres in Birpur, Dharmapuri mandals and 25 villages in Jagitial district.

Addressing a public meeting later, Harish Rao said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was a son of a farmer and he was very much aware of agriculture and the problems being faced by farmers.

The KCR government was determined to complete the irrigation projects in the State. Stating that as much as Rs 186 crore was spent for the projects last year and this time about Rs 600 crore would be spent.

He said the officials were asked to complete the works of main canal and repairs of distributaries on time. The Congress leaders, who hailed Karimnagar, failed to take up SRSP works during the Congress regime. He attributed it to the negligence of the previous rulers, who failed to focus on the irrigation sectors.

The Finance Minister Eatala Rajender, MP Kavitha, B Suman, Whip K Eshwar, MLA Rasamayi Balakishan, MLC Naradasu Lakshman Rao, Zilla Parishat Chairperson T Uma and others participated in the programme.
