New Delhi: The missing case of doctor from Telangana who is working here in the national capital is turning curiouser by the day. Two days into the ‘missing' incident, the police have registered a ‘kidnap for ransom’ case in this connection.

Dr Akkala Srikanth Goud (29), a medical PG student working with the Preet Vihar Metro Hospital, here, went missing on Thursday night after being dropped at Lakshmi Nagar Metro Station around 11 pm. Both the friends had gone out for dinner on the fateful night after Dr Goud's duty hours. He was seen walking out of the hospital around 8.30 pm.

Goud, a native of Gadwal in Telangana, completed his medical degree from Jiujiang University in China and got registered with the AP Medical Council in 2013. Having secured Medical Council of India's clearance, he settled down in Delhi some time back, his friends disclosed.

As he missed his last metro train to reach his home at Gautam Nagar, Goud is said to have booked an Ola cab to reach his destination. That was the last anyone saw him.

The next morning someone from the Ola management contacted the Preet Vihar Police Station around 4 am and told them that a passenger was kidnapped by the driver of their vehicle and that a demand for Rs 5 crore ransom was being made. The police here are tight-lipped regarding the case and are not forthcoming with details.

An advocate deputed by the Ola management even visited the Metro hospital to verify the facts, it is said. However, the hospital authorities disclosed that the doctor had not come to the duties. Later one of the friends of Goud, Subba Rao, a Telugu man, reached Gautam Nagar along with a couple of his friends to enquire about the same.

A roommate of Goud, Hemant, told them that the former did not turn up in the night and he was also worried. In the mean time, the hospital management also contacted the Preet Vihar Police.

The police said some leads were being established and the veracity of the driver's licence, bank account details, PAN details etc were being established. “It is a clear case of kidnap for ransom.

As such a kidnap case has been registered and special teams constituted to trace the driver. A contact person of the driver is under investigation too. We are hopeful of solving the crime at the earliest", a police officer said.
