Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has ridiculed the linking of completion of Pulichintala Hydel Power Station with the "vision" of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao as it has appeared in the media on Saturday. He has asked KCR if even one electrical unit of power was produced from any of the power projects started by TRS Government? The answer is "No", he said.
"TRS Government or KCR did nothing for the Pulichintala hydel power project. It is located in my constituency and I have a thorough knowledge of the project. It was conceived, approved and initiated during the regime of previous Congress Government. KCR got habitual of taking credit for almost everything done in the State and blaming congress for whatever not done in the State," Uttam Kumar Reddy said on Saturday. He pointed out that 4x30 MW Pulichintala HES got Environmental Clearances on June 9, 2005 and Forest Clearances on October 20, 2006. The final approval was given on April 25, 2007 and the Date of Letter of Award (First Package) was given on 1st August 2007. Significant portion of the work was completed before KCR became CM in June 2014.
Uttam Kumar Reddy also pointed out that the BHEL had commissioned the first unit of 30 MW in December 2016 and now the second unit is ready. The other two units are scheduled for commissioning in August and October this year. The commissioning of Pulichintala HES to full capacity has actually been delayed. KCR is giving an impression as if his government has completed the entire project in one year. "KCR has excelled in the art of taking credit for other's achievements. TRS Government has failed to add a single unit of power during the last three years from the projects that it had conceived and initiated and instead of taking steps to initiate and complete them on time, KCR has lined up launch of projects which were originally started during Congress regime," he said.
The TPCC chief advised KCR to start addressing the real problems being faced by the people instead of focussing on self-praise. "The Chief Minister is presently confined to his palatial bungalow Pragathi Bhavan. He is neither aware of what is happening in the State or even the State Secretariat. His activity is limited to holding an hour long review meeting on some subject twice or thrice a week and issue a press release. He only craves for positive coverage in the media even by making wrong or exaggerated claims. Someday he might even take credit for the sunrise and sunset," he said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Chief Minister should visit the villages to interact with farmers on availability of power during the Kharif season. The Chief Minister should convene the meetings of State Level Bankers Committee to ensure that all farmers are extended required loans and other financial assistance. "KCR should work as an active CM and not as acting CM," he said.
