Hyderabad: Municipal Administration Minister K. Tarakarama Rao said that the Telangana Government would promote Deccan Park as a major tourist spot of Hyderabad.

Speaking after inaugurating the renovated Deccan Park at Seven Tombs on Monday, KTR said that the State Government would ensure that Deccan Park is included in the itinerary of all tourists visiting Hyderabad. He also supported the suggestion made by MIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi to get Hyderabad included in the UNESCO list of Heritage Cities. Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya also supported Owaisi's suggestion and said that the Central Government too would try to get Heritage City status for Hyderabad.

The total extent of land is 31 acres and Deccan Park is developed in 20 acres. The park was developed from the year 2002 to 2006. It had recreational and entertainment facilities. like Musical Fountain, Swimming Pool, Chowki Dinner Shed, Conference Hall, Boating Pond, Kiddy Pool, Lazy Pool, Toy Train, View point open area, Stage event and Canteen building etc., However, the park could not be opened due to cases in the High Court which were cleared in the year 2011 and delayed due to renaming of the Deccan Park.

Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) and Aga Khan Foundation of India (AKFI) has entered into MOU on January 9, 2013 for preserving and developing Tombs as Heritage structures and also taking up of conservation, landscape and urban environmental Rehabilitation in Quli Qutub Shahi Tombs complex and Deccan Park and the work will be started shortly in Deccan Park.

The Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation has also proposed to take up of development of Hyderabad Heritage circuit which is sanctioned by Ministry of Tourism Department, GOl at a cost of Rs. 98.42 crores, according to Quli Qutb Shah Urban Development Authority.
