CM reviews solar power situation in Telangana
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has expressed happiness over 1758 MW of Solar power is available against the set target of 5,000 MWs.
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has expressed happiness over 1758 MW of Solar power is available against the set target of 5,000 MWs.
The Chief Minister spoke to TS Genco CMD D Prabhakar Rao and Principal Secretary S Narsing Rao on the solar power situation in the state. The Genco CMD has explained the situation about the solar power to the CM. He said that so far MoUs are signed for 2000 MWs of the Solar Power and another 3000 MWs will be added in next two years.
By June 2, 2014, when the State of Telangana was formed there was only one mega watt of Solar power was available in the region. After the Telangana government was formed a new solar power policy is implemented. Decentralization method is implemented in the generation and distribution of the solar power. Permissions to the solar power plants are given based on the load on the substation.
The local sub stations are linked with the solar power plants. Hence there is no affect on the grid. Under this policy, plans have drawn to generate 5,000 MWs of the solar power. MoUs are signed for the generation of 2000 MWs and as on date 1758 MWs of power is available. In the next three years, another 3000 MWs of the solar power will be added making Telangana state one among the States, which are generating solar power on a large scale.
The Chief Minister said it is necessary to generate power from the non-conventional sources, along with the Hydel, Thermal. “A proper plan should be in place for this,” he said.
