Hyderabad: The story of elopement of a B-tech student and his girlfriend took a dramatic turn as only the girl returned home.

According to police, the B-tech student Ganesh and his girl-friend who was his classmate went to Bhadrachalam on July 6 with the intention of getting married at the temple. But the next day, the girl returned to her parents’ house alone and even attended the classes in a private college in Ghatkesar.

Teachers who grew suspicion about the absence of Ganesh, questioned the girl and realised that he was missing. When asked, the girl informed that she handed over her gold chain to Ganesh as they ran out of money in Bhadrachalam.

Ganesh had left the place for brining supplies; but never returned. She said she tried to contact him on his mobile but found that it was ‘switched off’. As it was getting late, she decided to return back, she said.

Doubting her version, the college management informed Ganesh’s parents about the episode who were already worried a lot after his mobile was ‘switched off’, a day after, he spoke to his father, V Agamaiah on July 6. The family had already begun to look out for him not only in the surroundings of Ghatkesar, but also in Bhadrachalam. They then lodged complaint with the police. Following this, a police team was sent to Bhadrachalam.

Ganesh’s father suspected that the girl’s family was responsible for the missing of his son. The police questioned the girl’s family and also grilled the girl, who maintained the same version. Later the police formed a team and launched a search operation in Bhadrachalam.
