Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao handed over the land and assured the farmers that they would be paid for the registration of the plots by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) with an expenditure of Rs 35 crore.
Apart from the art and crafts village, a cycling track, convention center and parks are also to be constructed.
Speaking on the occassion, KTR said that the proposal had been made 12 years ago but the process of acquiring the land from farmers and approval of HMDA took time.
