The long-awaited completion of Borancha Lift Irrigation Scheme, which aims to irrigate 2900 acres in Raikode and Manoor mandals on the foreshore of Singoor Project is almost completed.

Narayankhed(Sangareddy): The long-awaited completion of Borancha Lift Irrigation Scheme, which aims to irrigate 2900 acres in Raikode and Manoor mandals on the foreshore of Singoor Project is almost completed.

Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao inaugurated it on Wednesday, during his tour to Sangareddy and Narayankhed as part of the first day of Haritha Haram third phase.

However, construction of canals to give water till the last acre is yet to be completed.The cost incurred for installation of lifts, setting-up of intake well, intake pipeline, sump well, pump house pressure main, delivery cistern, gravity mains and transformers has amounted to Rs 20,21,65,000 till now.

The villagers of Borancha, Lingampally, Thatipally and Sindhole villages are the beneficiaries of this minor lift irrigation scheme. Construction of the scheme had started back in 2009, but took this long to complete.

Addressing a gathering of people in Borancha, Harish Rao has said that TRS government has done what previous government had failed to do in completing this lift irrigation scheme.

Farmers who were present at the event said that due to absence of canals, excess water was spoiling their fields and hoped steps would be taken to complete canal works as soon as possible.
