Shankar Naik clarifies his stand on the issue with collector Preethi Meena

TRS MLA from Mahabubabad, Shankar Naik landed in legal trouble over his misbehaviour with Collector Preeti Meena during their participation in the third phase of Haritha Haram programme at NTR Stadium in Mahabubabad on Wednesday.

While the TRS MLA touched the collector's shoulder and pushed her away during the programme, Preeti Meena informed about the incident to the Chief Secretary and also lodged a complaint with police.

A case was registered against Shankar Naik and he was arrested. However, he was released on station bail. Speaking in this regard, the TRS MLA clarified that Preeti Meena is like his sister and added that the incident happened involuntarily.

Shankar Naik further informed that he tendered his apology to the Collector as per the high-command's instructions despite not committing any mistake.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao who took the issue seriously, gave a strict warning to the MLA instructing him to tender an unconditional apology to the Collector. KCR even warned Shankar Naik that he will be removed from the party if he fails to mend his ways.
