Jeevan terms KCR’s ‘flock of sheep’ remarks uncharitable

Hyderabad: Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Deputy Leader T Jeevan Reddy on Thursday described Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s remark comparing the Opposition leaders to that of a flock of sheep as uncharitable.

Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Jeevan Reddy said the Opposition parties expressed their appreciation over the government scheme to distribute sheep to Yadava community.

The Opposition, however, pointed out that the sheep distributed to the beneficiaries were not up to specifications. He said the government had distributed only 4,000 units in the first phase though the government announced that 3.59 lakh units would be distributed. It meant that just one per cent of the target was fulfilled, Jeevan Reddy said.

The government had also failed to ensure that there were adequate number of veterinary doctors to provide medical aid to the sheep.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, Jeevan Reddy urged KCR not to make mockery of the sheep distribution scheme as was the case with the promise to distribute three acres of land to the Dalits.

He recalled that the late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had introduced free medical aid scheme and procured paddy through IKP (Indira Krauth Pathak).

He said YSR had also encouraged people by disbursing Rs 5,000 each as cash incentive. He also pointed out that YSR had implemented Arogyasri and 108 schemes which were unique in the world.

He asked KCR as to why he had diluted fee reimbursement scheme though it would help the students from the poor background to pursue higher studies.
