Hyderabad: The Education Department will take action against private and government schools if they fail to participate in the Haritha Haram programme to be held on July 15.

The Commissioner of School Education, issuing instructions said, the mandal educational officers should submit reports on the implementation of the programme within five days. If any school fails to participate in the programme, action would be taken based on the report submitted by the MEO.

The Commissioner said the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Education Kadiyam Srihari had reviewed the implementation plan of Telanganaku Haritha Haram in all education institutions and issued instructions for the schools to observe Green Day on July 15.

According to the plan, Green Day should be observed in all the educational institutions on July 15. Haritha Patashala, Haritha Telangana is the slogan for the plantation programme.

According to the instructions issued, schools should hold rallies and take out processions between 8.30 am to 9.30 am in all villages, gram panchayats, and wards to create awareness and plant saplings between 9.30 am to 10.30 am.

The staff and students should take a pledge after planting saplings. Competitions should be conducted between10.30 am to 12.30 pm at school level in essay writing, elocution etc and the winners shall be awarded Haritha Mitra certificates on August 15.

Green Brigades should be constituted in each school with students and teachers as members to protect the plants. Block plantations should be given priority wherever feasible and only plants (3 to 5 feet) should be selected. The plants should be preferably drought resistant like flowers, fruit bearing and shaded.

Each student and teacher shall be made responsible for the survival of the plant in the school premises. At the village level school management should coordinate with Grama Panchayathi Rakshana Committee, officials said.
