Congress leaders, who called for Warangal city bandh on Tuesday (July 18), in protest against naming the DCC president N Rajender Reddy in the remand report related to murder of Murali, said the Act was intended to malign Congress and its leaders.

Speaking to presspersons in Hanamkonda on Sunday, the party senior leader Dr G Vijayarama Rao said it was an outrageous act that the district TRS leadership was making use its leader’s murder for gaining political mileage over Congress.

Those killed Murali went to police station and surrendered and confessed to their crime stating that they had committed the offence to revenge over the murder of B Janardhan in 1992. Everyone in the city knows it and they also understand how the TRS was stooping down in maligning political rivals, he noted.

He felt that the TRS leaders were worried over their wining chances in the next elections, following increasing public opposition against the ruling party and hence employing all kinds of means to defame their rivals. It was sad that the police were being used as a pawn in the dirty political game, he said.

The DCC Bank Chairman J Raghava Reddy alleged that the Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari and Palakurthy MLA E Dayakar Rao were behind the act of naming Naini Rajender Reddy and two others as accused in Murali murder case.

Speaking to presspersons in Warangal city, Congress working president Rajanala Srihari disputed the contents in the remand report, saying that Rajender Reddy’s son Vishal died in a road on November 23, 2015 and he was burdened by the grief went into seclusion for nearly six months. “The remand report claims that the Congress leader in December 2015 spoke to the main accused in the murder case, asking him to eliminate Murali. It is everyone’s guess how erroneous the claim is.

Can anyone think of killing another when under such a grief caused by loss of his son?” Srihari posed. The Congress leaders called for Warangal city bandh on Tuesday protesting against naming Rajender Reddy in the case and demanding withdraw the names of Congress leader from the list of the accused.
