In order to keep the drug menace in check across the state, the Telangana Excise department has decided to expand it's probe into the organised drug trade and issue notices to the managements of pubs and bars in Hyderabad.

Following Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's directions who ordered the police and excise officials to intensify the probe into the illicit drug trade, the notices are all set to be issued to managements of all the 220 bars and pubs in the city as a part of a sensitisation programme.

The bars and pubs will be notified of the no drugs or any other narcotics substances policy within their promises and if the rules are violated, action will be initiated against them.

The Excise department had busted a drug racket earlier this month arresting 13 persons. Links to certain Tollywood personalities with the drug peddlers are also being probed with the department issuing notices to 11 persons.
