South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav conducted a review meeting on safety measures at Rail Nilayam here on Monday. The principal heads of departments and Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of all the six divisions including Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded participated in the review meeting through a video conference.

The principal heads of departments and Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of all the six divisions including Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded participated in the review meeting through a video conference.

The General Manager extensively reviewed the safety measures that should be taken especially with the onset of the monsoon and the heavy rains that hit the State. He took up for discussion various issues like patrolling, derailments of trains, condition of tracks, signalling systems, unmanned railway gates, brake bindings, etc, with the officials. He instructed them to take corrective measures to prevent major train accidents and ensure the safety of passengers.

Vinod Kumar Yadav, perused the monsoon readiness drill including patrolling and monitoring of water levels of tanks with all the DRMs and instructed them to concentrate on important locations near the railway bridges and girders.

On the issue of maintaining punctuality, the General Manager directed the DRMs to formulate an action plan for the optimum utilisation of time and avoid delays. He also advised them that the track renovation works should be taken up in such a way that they do not affect the punctuality of trains. He instructed the officials concerned to identify the problems plaguing the functioning of railways and take corrective steps to improve the system.

The General Manager instructed the divisional railway officials to extend their full co-operation to the completion of the on-going construction projects of 2017-18 within the target time. Additional General Manger John Thomas, Principal Chief Engineer SN Singh, Chief Safety Officer DK Singh, Chief Commercial Manager M G Sekharam and others were present.
