GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy has directed the engineering officials to take up restoration of damaged roads on war footing basis.

The GHMC Commissioner on Wednesday held an emergency review meeting with Chief Engineers Ziauddin, Suresh Kumar and R. Sridhar and Chief City Planner Devender Reddy to discuss the damage caused to city roads due to incessant rains during the last three days. He asked the Engineering and Planning Department officials to take up the pot hole restoration works without obstructing the traffic. He said the unit rates from half to 2 kms for road restoration works may be taken on priority without calling tenders.

It was also decided to take up water stagnation and other major problems at Khajaguda immediately. The works will be taken up during nights on roads where the traffic is on higher side. The Commissioner also directed the officials to conduct meetings to all the low-level engineers, works inspectors and officials to create awareness about modern technologies for taking up road restoration works.

The GHMC Commissioner said the works which are being taken up as per the recommendation of the Lakes Protection Committee would be placed before the State Government for further clarification and necessary orders. He also asked officials to provide him a daily brief on the works which are in progress and those completed.

Earlier, the GHMC Commissioner, along with the officials of the Central Zone, inspected some of the areas at Rajbhavan, Neckalace Road and also inspected the ongoing road restoration works in various areas of the Central Zone.
