​Hyderabad: The Congress on Wednesday demanded that impartial inquiry be conducted in the cases of narcotic drugs.

A delegation of Congress leaders comprising MLCs Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, Akula Lalitha and MLA T Rammohan Reddy met the Prohibition and Excise Commissioner R Chandravadan and demanded deterrent action against those responsible for narcotic drugs menace in the State.

They said the State has been turning into a hub for drug peddlers. While appreciating the officials of Excise Department for unearthing the drugs racket, they demanded that the department handle the drugs mafia with an iron hand.

The Congress leaders said the Excise Department should conduct enquiries in a fair manner without yielding to the pressures from any corner. They also advised the department to conduct counselling for the students who got addicted to drugs and their parents.

They asked the department to educate the film industry personalities who were caught in the drug net for the larger interest of the State.
