Hyderabad: Mayor Bonthu Rammohan on Wednesday exhorted citizens to plant 10 saplings each and take responsibility to protect them.
Participating in the Haritha Haram plantation programme organised in a private school at Nadargul, the Mayor said, “Every citizen should contribute and plant saplings to make the city green. Local MLA Teegala Krishna Reddy was also present.
As against the target of planting one crore saplings under GHMC limits, in coordination with various departments, so far, some eight lakh saplings have been planted. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) would take the responsibility of getting four lakh saplings planted, Rammohan said.
The Mayor said the colony welfare associations such as SHGs and NGOs should take the responsibility of planting saplings and their protection.
