Tarun names more substance abusers
Actor Tarun, who had faced allegations of substance abuse and allowing sale and consumption of drugs in his pub a few years ago, appeared before the SIT that has been probing the drug racket. Tarun is learnt to have revealed the names of some people from the entertainment industry who are known for substance abuse. Â Â Â
​Hyderabad: Actor Tarun, who had faced allegations of substance abuse and allowing sale and consumption of drugs in his pub a few years ago, appeared before the SIT that has been probing the drug racket. Tarun is learnt to have revealed the names of some people from the entertainment industry who are known for substance abuse.
He is also learnt to have shared information about the methods of sale and consumption of drugs in pubs by DJs and event managers. In response to SIT questions whether he knew the main drug peddler Calvin when he was actively running the pub, Tarun is learnt to have told the SIT officials that he had quit from pub business six years ago and that he was not connected with any drug deals.
Tarun was one of the partners in ‘On Pub’, which began in the city in 2009. He himself being film actor, several film personalities attended the inauguration of the pub and the names of some of those film personalities are now linked with the drug racket.
He is learnt to have told the SIT that many young actors and actresses used to visit the pub. He is also said to have told them that there would be at least 15 pubs where drugs are being supplied. Some service boys indulge in such acts, Tarun reportedly told the SIT officials. He also reportedly told them that secret rooms for drugs are made available for the people from the film industry in pubs where drugs could be taken.
Tarun is learnt to have told the SIT that he had sold away his share in the pub six years ago and he was not involved in any bad things. He arrived at the SIT office along with his father Chakrapani and the questioning began at 10.30 am.
After grilling him for hours, the Clues Team officials from the city police and a medical team from the Osmania General Hospital (OGH) arrived at the SIT and collected blood, nails and hair samples from Tarun for chemical analysis.
The SIT has been collecting the samples to ascertain whether the suspects were habituated to substance abuse.
Meanwhile, the SIT officials said another actor P Navdeep will appear for questioning on Monday while actress Charmme will appear on July 26.
