Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) appears to be getting bogged down in group politics if the recent developments in the party are any indication.

While the TPCC president is busy holding agitations and dharnas against TRS government, former TPCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah is making arrangements to hold meetings with BC leaders in various parts of the State and is inviting BC leaders in AICC to participate in the meeting.

Lakshmaiah feels that this would help in uniting the BCs and they would fight for their rightful place in the party. He feels that BCs in the party are being ignored by the State Congress.

He is also said to be planning to take up a padayatra soon in all districts; hold meetings with BC leaders at field level and try to find out why this section got alienated from the Congress party in Telangana. Meanwhile, another Congress leader Komatireddy Venkatreddy also announced his decision to take up padayatra from December. His brother and MLC K Rajagopal Reddy will also join him.

Addressing the media persons on Tuesday, Venkat Reddy has said that the Congress High Command has given clear indications of changes in the TPCC by October and declared that he is in the race for the post of TPCC president.

Venkat Reddy also claims that the Congress party would win 65-70 seats if elections are held now. He says TRS would not be able to win more than 30 seats. It would be a sweep in Mahabubnagar district, he claimed. He however did not explain what was the basis for his confidence that the Congress could perform so well.

He also ducked a question when asked if the party is so strong, then where is the need for change in the State leadership.
