Hyderabad: Even as the whole State is rocked by the alleged involvement of educational institutions, film industry and IT sector in massive drug abuse case, the Task Force sleuths on Tuesday nabbed four persons, who were indulged in drug trafficking near Indira Park and seized eight kilograms of ‘opium’ and four cell phones from their possession.

The accused were identified as D V V Satyanarayana alias Srinu, 26, a driver, residing at Nalipudi village under Shankavaram mandal of East Godavari district; Netala Rabbi alias Krupakar, 30, resident of Old Alwal, Secunderabad and native of Kakinada; Y Srihari Krishna, 37, resident of Mehdipatnam and native of NTR Street, Tadepalligudam, West Godavari district, and A Ravi Prakash, 43, of Bandamaisamma Nagar, Indira Park and native of Kurnool.

The police said Satyanarayana, a DCM driver, who was transporting vegetables and coconuts from East Godavari to Hyderabad, also started selling opium for making easy money.

He used to purchase opium from a poppy cultivator in Gangavaram in East Godavari district. Meanwhile, Netala Rabbi came into contact with Satyanarayana and volunteered to sell opium for a handsome commission. Rabbi also discussed the same with his friends Y Srihari Krishna and A Ravi Prakesh and explained about huge the profits in the drugs business.

Accordingly, the four were trying to sell opium at Indira Park to customers. On a tip-off, the Central Zone Task Force team rushed to the spot and nabbed them and recovered eight kilograms of opium and four cell phones from their possession. The accused, along with the seized opium, were handed over to the Gandhi Nagar Police.

The apprehensions were made by Inspector Sayini Srinivas Rao, SI B Kantha Reddy and staff under the supervision of DCP B Limba Reddy, according to an official release issued here.
