Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Wednesday alleged that the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s family was directly involved with the sand mafia and was minting money at the cost of public exchequer. TPCC labelled the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) as Treacherous, Robbers Samithi party.
Addressing a press conference here at Gandhi Bhavan, TPCC Chief Spokesperson Dasoju Shravan said the family members of Chandrashekar Rao were directly connected with the sand mafia in Sircilla and other places. He said rules were twisted to allot tenders in favour of Goldmines Mineral Company. He questioned the involvement of K Chandrashekar Rao's close relative Santosh Kumar in the Goldmines Company.
Sravan alleged that the TRS government had allowed indiscriminate mining of sand by ignoring the directives of Green Tribunal. Further, he said the government was collecting Rs 8,250 for each truck of sand while the same was being sold in the open market for about Rs 80,000.
He said K Chandrashekar Rao and his family were directly benefitting from these illegal operations. “Only 25 per cent of revenues from sand mining were coming to the State's Exchequer while the rest was going into the pockets of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s family,” he said.
Shravan also condemned K Taraka Rama Rao for his silence on the police brutality on Dalits and others by Sircilla police. He said the villagers were tortured so brutally that the jail authorities refused to admit them so, the police were forced to take them to a hospital. TPCC Vice-President Prasad Kumar, Youth Congress president Anil Kumar Yadav and other leaders were also present.
