Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) claimed that the double bedroom housing project at Ambedkar Nagar slum is not in Hussain Sagar Lake buffer zone. The civic body officials claimed that the Lake Protection authorities have recently earmarked the boundaries of the lake and identified that the 2BHK housing project at Ambedkar Nagar slum was neither in Full Tank Level (FTL) of Hussain Sagar nor in the buffer zone.
According GHMC official, Lake Protection Committee had inspected the Hussain Sagar and aftermarking the boundaries of the lake it had been noticed that the 2BHK housing project at Ambedkar Nagar slum was five metres away from the buffer zone. The same report will be submitted to the High Court which sought clarification earlier this month.
A senior GHMC official said, following the direction of the High Court, the Lake Protection Committee comprising of GHMC, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) and Hyderabad District Collector inspected the spot and identified that the project is not in the buffer zone and FTL of the Hussain Sagar Lake. He said the same report will be submitted to the court in order totake up the 2BHK housing project.
The GHMC official further said the civic body will construct 400 2BHK houses in an area spread over 2.5 acres with an estimated cost Rs 40 crore. He said that GHMC will only take up the project after receiving a clearance from the court.
