Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Sekhar Prasad Singh on Thursday said Independence Day celebrations would be conducted on a grand scale at historic Golconda Fort on August 15

morning. The Chief Secretary asked the officials concerned to make elaborate arrangements for the event with effective coordination and decorate the dais with flowers at the fort site. He also instructed them to spruce up the roads leading to the fort with enticing sign boards and hoardings to mark the great event.

The Chief Secretary conducted a review meeting with the officials in this connection and discussed about the arrangements to be made to reflect the culture and traditions of Telangana State.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao would pay tributes at ‘Veerula Sainik Smarak’ (Martyrs’ Memorial) at Parade Grounds in the morning and then reach Golconda Fort and would unfurl ‘National Tricolour’ to mark the Independence Day celebrations, he said. The Chief Secretary directed the officials to make better arrangements like they had done last year.

He directed the officials to illuminate Raj Bhavan, Secretariat, Assembly, High Court, Charminar and other major offices and localities in advance. The Chief Secretary instructed the officials concerned to take steps for sanitation, sign boards, traffic regulation, parking, uninterrupted power supply, water facility, mobile toilets, barricading, tight security and free movement of people.

The TSRTC should press special mini buses for the event and cultural programmes be conducted to reflect Telangana culture and traditions. Haryana cultural programmes will be conducted as part of Ek Bharath, Shresth Bharath programme. Singh asked the I&PR officials to arrange live coverage of Independence Day Celebrations with LED screens and public address system.
