Shabbir sees Venkaiah-KTR nexus
Leader of the Opposition in the Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Friday dubbed IT Minister K T Rama Rao as a ‘Joota and Fareb’ and said the latter followed ‘loot and scoot’ policy. He also alleged that Rama Rao brokered a deal in the purchase of 300 Toyota cars for the Telangana Police department through Harsha Motors, owned by BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu’s son.
Hyderabad: Leader of the Opposition in the Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Friday dubbed IT Minister K T Rama Rao as a ‘Joota and Fareb’ and said the latter followed ‘loot and scoot’ policy. He also alleged that Rama Rao brokered a deal in the purchase of 300 Toyota cars for the Telangana Police department through Harsha Motors, owned by BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu’s son.
Speaking at the Assembly Media Point, Shabbir defended the charge made by former Union Minister Jairam Ramesh that Rama Rao had influenced the government to purchase 300 Toyota vehicles for the Police Department without calling for tenders.
It may be remembered that Rama Rao had denied the allegation saying he had no role in the deal as the vehicles were purchased at the price fixed by DGS&D (Director General Supply and Disposal). Rama Rao also denied links with the Himanshu Motors which he had closed seven years ago.
Shabbir also said the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the BJP honeymooning was exposed when a grant of Rs 2.20 crore tax exemption given ‘clandestinely’ for the NGO Swarna Bharati belonging to Venkaiah Naidu's daughter Deepa. “Rama Rao has no moral right to continue as Minister.
The TRS government is engaged in one scam after another and blaming the Congress for everything to divert public attention,” he said. Shabbir Ali said the language used by Rama Rao had damaged the reputation of the democratic, elective and public post he occupied in the Telangana government.
