Hyderabad: Veteran wildlife conservationist and author Prerna Singh Bindra emphasised the importance of conserving tigers in Telangana. She felt that the forests at Amrabad and Kawal in Mahbubnagar district would help increase its population.

During a conference held as part of World Tiger Day celebrations at Aranya Bhavan on Saturday, Bindra lauded the efforts of the government in this endeavour.

However, she felt that there was a need for more scientific approach, which would contribute to increase the number of the endangered species. She stressed upon the need for protecting the entire belt from Maharashtra’s Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve to Telangana’s Kalwal, in terms of animal's habitat.

She explained that there was a need to avert possibility of any kind of conflict between the beast and the humans. She answered to queries posed by the officials during the meeting.
