Hyderabad: The mystery over firing at Congress leader Vikram Goud is yet to be resolved. The police after recording the statement of Vikram Goud and his wife Shipali feel that it appears to be a suicide attempt and not attack by outsiders. The police is likely to announce the same on Sunday.

According to sources, the investigation team questioned Vikram’s wife in a separate room in the hospital. It is said that she reiterated what she had mentioned in the written complaint she gave on Friday.

She told the Task Force that two intruders had attacked him but they could not be identified as one of them was wearing a helmet and the other had mask on his face.

The police which has been probing the case from various angles questioned her in two phases on Saturday. However, the police sources say that the scene of offence does not support the narration of events by Shipali.

They said the police so far could not find evidence that some intruders entered the house of Vikram Goud and left soon after injuring the target.

The police also questioned Vikram and recorded his statement. He reportedly told the police that it was fact that he was in debts.

He also maintained that he was attacked by two unidentified people. He also told them that he had done some mining business in other states and was yet to get money from there.

After the police questioned Shipali, she came before the media and said that she had given all necessary information to the team led by DCP B Limba Reddy and asked the media not to resort to stories based on assumptions and give a colour that the incident was a suicide attempt.

She said the condition of Vikram was stable and he continues to be in ICU and on supportive systems like oxygen.

Shipali said she had informed the police about everything that had happened on Friday. We have full faith in the police that they would do justice and find out who the attackers were. I request everyone not to indulge in making false allegations,” she said.

Meanwhile, the police said that they were probing the case from various angles. The doctors who performed surgery have removed two bullets, which pierced through his body. Gunshot residues on the hands of Vikram and his wife have been sent to forensic laboratory.

Different teams are investigating the case from different angles, a senior officer told The Hans India. What is interesting is that the police still could not trace the weapon with which he was fired at.

The police on Saturday once again searched the house of Vikram and some of his relatives but could not trace it.
