Commuters raise a stink over Rathifile Bus Station

Hyderabad: The area around the Rathifile Bus Station near Secunderabad Railway Station is in a very bad condition. People in the area are facing hardships because of poor standards of hygiene and lack of drinking water facility.

Rathifile Bus Station is the converging point for thousands of city commuters from various parts of the city to Secunderabad Railway Station. The situation is worsening by the day. There are no proper toilets. The condition of the public toilet next to the entrance of the bus station is in a very bad condition.

Nitish (32), a daily commuter to ECIL from Rathifile Bus Station, said “The stink from the pay and use toilet service right at the entrance of the bus station is putrid.”

People from all age category commute via the bus station and yet the place lacks proper seating arrangements. Commuters are left are forced to sit on the floors filled with with garbage and dust. Shyamala, (64), who visited the city with heavy luggage, was waiting at the Bus station sitting on the floor.

She said the few broken benches were already occupied and she was too tired to stand waiting for the bus. “There are only four benches for hundreds of commuters. Though not everyone can sit, they should at least care for the old people.” She said.
