Junior doctors at the Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad continued their strike for the second consecutive day on Tuesday causing severe inconvenience to patients.

Called by the Telangana Junior Doctors Association, the indefinite strike began on Sunday night following the attack on two junior doctors by relatives of a patient who died during the treatment.

Protesting against the rising number of attacks on medicos, nearly 250 junior doctors, including house surgeons denied their duties except emergency services and demanded measures to increase security measures. The doctors even lodged a complaint with Afzalgunj police station demanding action against those involved in the attack under non-bailable sections.

The association refused to call off the strike even after the OGH Superintendent GVS Moorthy's assurance to take necessary action in the matter and sked for a report within three days.

The strike is causing severe inconvenience to patients in one of the oldest hospitals in the country, with services in out patient block remaining paralysed for a second consecutive day.
