Bhupalpally: An exhilarating drive through Eturunagaram forests will never be complete without soaking in the eco-acoustics of the wildlife sanctuary here. Adding more to bolster the tourism in the region was ‘Jungle Safari’ which is ready to take off in the wilds of Eturunagaram very shortly.

This indicates that Telangana has witnessed a change in the landscape of tourism in last couple of years with the local administrations laying their focus on marketing of services by augmenting the infrastructure and facilities in tourism spots.

Against this backdrop, the Jungle Safari is going to be a huge attraction for those who want to get unhooked to the gadgets and the hustle-bustle of the city life.

The Safari is aimed at satisfying the thirst of the nature lovers as the ride allows them the glimpses of spotted deer, nilgai, chousingha, giant squirrels, etc.

The jeep safari, which criss-crosses Blackberry island, Kondeti viewpoint, Sarwai, Dameravai, Royyur, Gangaram beat and other places, is also a scenic fiesta for the bird watchers as they get an opportunity to see Indian roller, racket-tailed drongo and various types of kingfishers.

As part of the eco-tourism development project, three bicycle tracks have already come up and are in use from Tadwai huts, located on Warangal-Eturunagaram road (NH-163).

This apart, to provide better accommodation, the Forest Department has constructed four cottages besides modernising the two existing huts. The cottages are being spruced up to throw open for the tourists within a short time. The facility also includes a camping, wildlife museum, dormitory and dining hall.

The tourists can also see the pictures of camera traps, a remotely activated camera that is equipped with a motion sensor or an infrared sensor to capture the photos of animals in the forest, in the museum.

Speaking to The Hans India, Jayashankar-Bhupalpally District Eco-tourism coordinator Kalyanapu Suman said: “The administration is trying to provide the best to the tourists as the Collector Akunuri Murali and DFO T Ravi Kiran are determined to promote the tourism in the district which has highest forest cover in the State.

This apart, efforts were also on to identify the unexplored spots that have immense tourism potential in the region.”
