The Animal Husbandry Minister slams the Congress for its ‘anti-Dalit’ approach; accuses it of coming in the way of development programmes
Hyderabad: Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Monday lashed out at the Congress for its rhetoric against the government and for resorting to opportunistic politics.
Addressing a media conference at the Secretariat here, the Minister challenged for an open debate on three-year rule of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government and 60-year rule of the previous governments.
“We are ready for the debate in the Assembly or any other place of the Congress’ choice,” he said. He accused the Congress of dumping the Dalits and ignoring the plight of farmers, irrigation and farm sectors. The Congress talking on Dalit welfare was tantamount to devils quoting scriptures, he charged.
“The Congress is known for its conspiracies against the BC and SC leaders. Its top leadership belittled the Dalits by not giving PCC chief post to Bhatti Vikramarka for him being a Dalit,” he said. He slammed the Congress for making false allegations against the government about attacks on Dalits and welfare.
“The Congress is known for internal squabbles and is resorting to mudslinging on the government on schemes and development programmes,” he said. The Minister warned that cases would be filed against the Congress leaders for wrong allegations. “In a democracy, any leader or person can go anywhere and talk to people.
TJAC chief Prof Kodandaram has addressed a meeting at Gajwel. Similarly, we have no objection to Meira Kumar addressing the public meeting at Siricilla, wherein the police imposed 144 Cr PC to avoid tense situation,” he clarified.
Srinivas Yadav found fault with the Congress for asking former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar to address people in Siricilla. He said whoever came and held meeting and met people, the government had no objection.
“However, when there is tense situation, the Police Department has imposed Section 144 but the Congress is trying to gain out of the situation politically,” he said. He refuted the allegations against the government over the Siricilla issue, where one person died in a lorry accident.
Some local people burnt five lorries and the police took action and arrested some of them who were involved, he said and slammed the Congress for trying to malign the image of the government by saying that it was against Dalits. “The people are aware of what the three-year rule has done for the upliftment of Dalits, BCs and the poor.
We have taken up several welfare schemes and are ready to give the details. The Congress which was in power for 40 years has done nothing for the people, but they themselves fought against each other for power and status,” he said.
