Demanding a judicial probe into the alleged \'custodial torture of eight \'Dalits\' arrested in July for torching a truck in Rajanna Sircilla district, Telangana BJP president K Laxman spoke to the media on Tuesday in Karimnagar stating that the matter has been reported to the National Human Rights Commission and to the National Commission for Scheduled Castes.

The BJP leader visited the Karimnagar District Prison where the men are lodged and condemned the incident.

Speaking after his visit, he claimed that the victims of torture belonged to Scheduled Caste community and the act of torturing the Dalits with electric shocks is heinous.

The men were arrested last month for allegedly torching a sand-laden truck, that caused a road accident resulting in the death of a person.

The eight were arrested on 2 July for allegedly torching a sand-laden truck, which was involved in a road accident, causing the death of a person.

Few political parties have alleged that the accused were 'tortured' in police custody and were subjected to third degree methods.
