Hyderabad: Protest by the students of Sri Konda Laxman Telangana Horticulture University at Rajendranagar entered 30th day on Wednesday.

The university students have been demanding that government sanction of agriculture and horticulture extension officers’ posts so that all eligible diploma holders can get jobs.

According to one of the student leaders Vadla Konda, though the students have been protesting for 30 days and have been on hunger strike for the last four days, the authorities did not respond. On the other hand, they were lifted by the police on Tuesday midnight.

The students alleged that the male police personnel along with women police entered the girls’ hostel at midnight and one of the constables had even slapped a student Archana.

On Wednesday, TDP working president A Revanth Reddy and party workers who wanted to extend their support to the protest were arrested.

Former Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy also tried to go there but was prevented by the police. The protestors said they were unaware of the whereabouts of the students and some horticulture officers who were picked up by the police.

The students demanded that the government release them and solve the issues immediately.
