​Hyderabad: The State Human Rights commission (SHRC) ordered the Superintendent of Police, Komaram Bheem Asifabad district to submit a report on sexual harassment on a woman by Circle Inspector (CI), Kaghaznagar.

In a complaint with the commission, Lingam Swapna a resident of Battupalli, Kagaznagar said that she was married to Lingam Bapu six years ago and he was given a dowry of Rs 4 lakh rupees at the time of marriage.

Bapu, his mother and cousins had been harassing her both physically and mentally seeking an additional dowry of Rs 2 lakh. She did not get justice in caste panchayat also. However, in September 2016, Bapu tried to marry another woman for dowry and Swapna and her son were shunted out from home.

With life threat from Bapu, she complained to Kaghaznagar police. But, police did not take any action on them and took the complaint in a lighter vein.

After the complaint to the SP, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Ramesh Babu, CI of Kaghaznagar had been harassing Swapna sexually.

She said before commission that she was mentally and physically harassed by her husband Bapu and CI Ramesh Babu.
