Minister for Women and Child Welfare Tummala Nageshwara Rao on Wednesday said they would conduct a study of Kerala model of childcare system and check the irregularities in childcare centres in adoption of newborn babies. To avoid this problem, adoption of children should be done online through necessary measures and should set up monitoring committees, he said.
Plans afoot to set up childcare centres in all districts in the State and a task force to monitor their activities
Hyderabad: Minister for Women and Child Welfare Tummala Nageshwara Rao on Wednesday said they would conduct a study of Kerala model of childcare system and check the irregularities in childcare centres in adoption of newborn babies. To avoid this problem, adoption of children should be done online through necessary measures and should set up monitoring committees, he said.
Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) Advisory Committee Chairman Ramchander Reddy called on the Minister at the Secretariat here and discussed the child adoption irregularities.
He brought to fore the irregularities in the child adoption at various places. Rao said the government was planning to set up a State Adoption Resource Authority to check the irregularities. He said the government was planning to set up childcare centres in all districts and also a task force to monitor and conduct inspections.
About 20,000 applications were pending for setting up of childcare centres and the government would to take a call, he said, adding that a related file was sent to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for his approval. Stringent measures will be taken to prevent irregularities.
Rao also asked the officials to conduct a study tour to Kerala wherein the children abandoned by parents or single mothers are being taken care of by the State government. The Minister said the State government was firm and determined to protect the women and children. Stating that Nalgonda was first in adopting children, he said required steps would be taken up for strengthening the system to pave easy way for adoption and avoiding any problem.
