A kind-hearted entrepreneur based in United States of America, who preferred to not disclose identity, had donated one lakh pairs of shoes to government school students in Sangareddy and Rangareddy districts. 

​Sangareddy: A kind-hearted entrepreneur based in United States of America, who preferred to not disclose identity, had donated one lakh pairs of shoes to government school students in Sangareddy and Rangareddy districts.

Shri Satya Goura Chandra Dasa, Regional Coordinator of Hare Krishna Hare Rama Foundation Trust (Akshaya Patra Foundation) on behalf of the entrepreneur, with the help of the State government distributed the shoes, valuing anywhere between Rs 250 and Rs 300, to the needy children. Around 70,000 shoe pairs in Sangareddy and 30,000 in Rangareddy district were distributed to children.

At an event held at the Zila Parishad High School (Girls), Sangareddy on Thursday, the shoes were formally distributed to the children by Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao.

Addressing the gathering of girl students, teachers and local political representatives, Harish Rao praised the donor for the selfless service and thanked Hare Krishna Trust for their continuous service for the wellbeing of the children through Akshaya Patra Foundation.

He said the State government was committed to encourage girl child education and to bring down drop-out rates among girls in Telangana. He said 25 SC girls’ residential degree colleges were started last year and another 25 SC/ST girls’ residential degree colleges will start this academic year.

Implementing intermediate education in all gurukul educational institutions and opening urban English medium Kasturbha Gandhi Residential Schools in all district headquarters were some of the things which the government was working on, he added.

He praised the State government for spending Rs 600 crore annually towards good quality rice for school children, books distribution before the start of academic year and giving two pairs of uniforms to each student which also boosted the handloom weavers’ livelihood.

He also said the government had been spending a lot of money on building toilets and kitchen sheds in schools and revealed that the government had just sanctioned a grant of Rs 50,000 to every high school in the State.

“We are reserving a maximum number of seats for students coming from government schools in institutions like IIIT Basara,” he added.

He also disclosed that the State government was committed to implement common service rules for teachers and that the teachers based on their experience and position could expect promotions soon. He asked the teachers to encourage children to attend the essay and hand writing competitions being held by the District Administration on various topics, so that they become more knowledgeable about various subjects and turn more confident.

MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, MP BB Patil, MLA Chinta Prabhakar, MLC V Bhoopal Reddy, MLA M Bhupal Reddy, Former MLC R Satyanarayana, District Collector Manickraj Kannan, ZP Chairperson Rajamani, Municipal Chairperson Vijayalaxmi and others participated in the event.
