Hyderabad: The South Zone police on August 5 rounded up around 100 persons, including 23 criminals and 20 rowdy sheeters, during its cordon and search operations conducted in different localities in Old City.

Led by South Zone DCP, V Satyanarayana, about 250 policemen from different police stations, including Task Force police, took part in the early morning operation which continued for three hours. Apart from criminals and rowdy sheeters, the police also took into custody more than 40 suspects and some other offenders.

The police began raids from Asad Baba Nagar, Kishanbagh under Bahadurpura police station limits. They seized 4 daggers, 56 two-wheelers and 15 autos whose owners failed to produce valid documents. The police also raided a garlic paste manufacturing unit and seized liquor bottlers from a belt shop. ``

As the area is nearer to Musi bank, there is possibility for criminal activities in these localities. Hence, we have decided to conduct cordon search operation. We are also using technology to identify criminals by their finger prints and with this technology it is quite easy to identify criminals,” said the DCP.

By using the technology, the police are trying to verify the antecedents of 41 other suspects who were rounded up during the cordon and search operation. The raids were started at 5 am and completed by 8 am.
