Hyderabad: The two-day state committee meeting of CPI (M) ended here on Sunday and demanded the State government to take urgent measure to save the standing crops which are withering away due to the dry spell in the current monsoon season.

Addressing the media here on Sunday, the party State secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram said that farmers had gone ahead with sowing due to good rains with the onset of the south-west monsoon. However, the standing crops in thousands of acres have been reeling under the dry spell for more than two weeks. But, no efforts were made by the government machinery to save the crops, he pointed out.

The recent outbursts of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao against the party was due to the fact that CPI (M) has been fighting for the cause of the farmers, displaced people due to projects, tribal people and workers. The party has been raising questions over the way the government has been run by a family of four for the last three years, he said.

He demanded the government to reveal its stand on the issue of Information Technology Minister K T Rama Rao functioning as a director in a private company.
